down across the south shore and the cape. don't be surprised by that. a few across the north shore and mostly cloudy conditions. just mild. 40s to the north and west. upper 50s in boston. temperature drops from the lower 60s on the vineyard to the upper 50s. that is because we do have some breaks in the cloud cover too which we are expecting throughout the day today. more clouds than we saw yesterday. as for temperatures, we will be climbing into the 50s by your lunch hour. we will be tracking a few track showers. and notice what happens with the weather boundary draped across the region, by the afternoon temperatures stuck in the 50s across the north. down across the southwest upper 60s and 70s. wide range of temperatures. we will talk about it coming up and talk about the big warm-up on your way. a check of traffic with julie grauert. good morning. >>julie: sarah, good morning. an accident on the expressway. it just happened a rollover northbound at adams street. we have lanes blocked in quincy we have lanes blocked in quincy. so leave some extra time until they get that cleared up. because it is a serious accident at this early hour.

reconstructing the scene.the road was close while this was happening. this around 10:30 last night on carver road. a vehicle struck a bicycle a vehicle struck a bicyclist and apparently left. and medflight was called to the scene. we went by the scene and the scene had been cleared and you could see marks in the street in the area where this occurred in the area where this occurred. again at this time i have reached out for police and await more information from them. and for now live in plymouth, catherine parrotta, fox25 morning news. also this morning, new york city police officer has been killed in the line of duty. fox25's daniel miller is here with a gunfight that led to that officer's debt. >> that police officer was shot during a chase in gun fight. 33-year-old randolph holder was chasing a man who had stole anne bike when he was shot. other officers shot the suspect in the leg and arrested him. officer holder was five-year
third generation police officer who emigrated from africa. overnight mayor dipwlaz yo says the department is trying to cope with this loss. >> sadness and hard to describe what everyone is going through and we are fighting to understand the loss of a man who did so much, cared so much, it educated his life to protecting others. >>daniel: officer holder's father was at the scene comfortable other officers. he is the fourth nypd officer killed in the line of duty in the last 11 months. still a lot more unfolding this morning. and we will keep you posted as we get more information. in the newsroom, daniel miller, fox25 news. following a developing news on pope francis this morning. the vatican has denied an italian media report that the pontiff pontiff has a benign brain tumor. pope francis was diagnosed with a small dark spot on the brain, but it was curable. report says the pope traveled
the vatican -- spokesman for the vatican says this is not true. and that the pope is in good health. pope francis was just in the united states for more than a week in september. this morning, a local doctor is accused of trying to take pictures of a woman in a bathroom at umass medical school. the springfield republican reports dr. marcus cooper is on administrative leave. the alleged incident happened last month. a woman said she saw a shadow and a camera phone lens over the bathroom stall. she chased the man who later surrenders to police. the doctor is scheduled to be arraigned in december. police continue to search this morning for a man they say sexually assaulted a bridgewater state freshman. here is a sketch of the suspect. police say the 18-year-old female victim met him on the social media app kick and arranged to meet him near the campus center monday night. the attack then allegedly happened on other side of campus near a parking garage. students say they are suspicious of social media apps
like the one this victim used. >> i think it exposes the dangers in social media. you don't know who you are talking to or who you are meeting up with until it is too late >> the app itself is a little scary to me, a little bit sketchy. i personally would never use anything like that. >> here is the sketch of the suspect once again. anyone who recognizes him should call bridgewater state police. just last month bridgewater state released the latest statistics of sexual assaults on campus. the safety on campus report shows there were five forcible sex offenses on the bridgewater campus last year. that is up from 3 in 2013. there was one assault in 2012. new this morning, toyota has issued a recall on millions of cars. the recall affected 6.5 million globally and 2.7 million in north america. the power window master switch may short circuit and potential may short circuit and potentially cause a fire.
models include the camry, corolla and yaris and made between 2005 and 2010. a new hampshire prep school graduate found guilty of sexually assaulting a young classmate faces lifetime registration of a sex open fender. a judge upheld the felony conviction. a jury in august convicted him of several charges including using a computer to arrange a meeting with a female student. labrie's lawyers wanted that one dropped because that one sex offender. tomorrow. cape cod sentenced to two years in jail for stealing organization. richard trott sr. of east sandwich has been convicted of transferring money from his organization into his own personal bank account. the investigation into him was launched in 2013. trott will serve eight months in jail and ten years of probation. happening today, the man
to an undercover officer in tewksbury will appear in court. police arrested john miller from milford, new hampshire for allegedly trying to sell an assault rifle, shotgun, and 3,000 rounds of ammunition to an undercover officer. this happened on highwood drive. miller did not have a license to carry the weapons. a new program in gloucester to help get people off drugs is asking addicts and the city's budget. the angel program began in june and allows addicts to turn themselves in for treatment instead of going to jail. police posting on facebook it is save is saving the city about $300 for every person who gets treatment. even though officials are happy with the numbers, gloucester's police chief tells fox25 that save saving money is secondary. >> people are surprised at the help they are given here at the police station which is something which were going for to be that kind of safe haven. >> report shows a 23% drop in crimes attributed to addiction as well as possession, larceny and shoplifting. local survivors testify on
beacon hill to make health insurance companies pay to treat chronic lyme disease. right now state lawmakers are considering bills that would require health insurers to cover lyme disease for monday than 30 days. currently the federal government has a month of antibiotics. health insurance companies say the move will force small businesses to pay more for coverage and people with the disease they say something has to change. >> delay in treatment because insurance companies were denying the coverage. you know, it really cost my daughter. >>sara: the cdc says massachusetts has the second highest rate of lyme disease in the nation second to pennsylvania. lawmakers believe they have enough votes to pass the bill. 5:09 this morning. a loose tire leads to nasty wreck on both sides of the 495 in lawrence. the road is back open this morning. state police say it started when a tractor-trailer lost a wheel. hit a car in the southbound lanes, skipped over the median

volume still manageable as you head into boston. here are those live drive times here are those live drive times. 12 minutes on pike from the weston tolls to the ted williams tunnel. you can see how those drive times shot up on the expressway because of that accident. 21 minutes on 128 south from route 1234 route 1 in peabody to the weston tolls. meteorologist sarah wroblewski in for shiri think morning. you are saying a lot of clouds and you can expect a few sprinkles. what more do we have to look forward to? >>sarah: when i stepped outside, i noticed a few raindrops coming on down. very far and few between, but nonetheless, something to be on the lookout for. also talking about a difference in temperatures. in fact temperatures get stuck in the 50s across the northeast in the 50s across the and west you go, you could be in the mid- to upper 60s. all of us will be nearing 70 by tomorrow. we are tracking the risk of some showers. we could see a spot shower too as well. here is that weather boundary raced through the region noticing some green indicating some sprinkles. there are more out there, and
continue to move eastward. not all it will make it here, but nonetheless this means we will see a spot shower or two. otherwise, mostly cloudy. there will be some breaks in the clouds though. temperatures right now in the 40s to the north and west. 57 in boston. we are down into the upper 50s near 60 for parts of the cape and island there. so very mild. winds calm. light winds through the interior, through the day today and that's why we will see the southerly flow in the south side bring those temperatures up and to the north and east, this is where we are going to see temperatures the coolest, places like beverly going to get influenced by the onshore wind. the winds calm. likely going to turn to the northeast and that means temperatures today will be slow to rise and only get into the 50s. we will see milder conditions further to the south. taking a look at highs for the entire region. along the coast through the merrimack valley up through parts of new hampshire likely will see those 50s.
the coast, and then when you get into western parts of mass, even into northeastern connecticut, wouldn't be surprised to see the temperatures in the mid- to upper 60s. for tonight, the clouds will stick around and could see areas of fog. temperatures will once again be on the milder side. upper 40s to near 50s in boston. 50s for the cape and come tomorrow, take a look at the highs. that front moves to the north, that front moves to the north, we are all going to be tapping into the mild air with wind out of the south. upper 60s to lower 70s. here that front draped through the region. it is expected to just sag a little further south through the morning hours and along this boundary. that is where we could see spot hours. cool to the north, mild to the south. as we head through the day the front starting to lift northward. by tomorrow morning we are waking up to clouds, some fog. that front is to the north. it is going to be mild. when we see any breaks of sunshine that will really boost those temperatures to near 70 those temperatures to near 70. look what happens in the afternoon. a cold front to the north and west will increase the chance

some breaks of sun the further north you go, but the winds will be out of the northeast. a little cooler. throughout the day we will be watching for any raindrops to be pushing across the region. otherwise a lot of clouds in the forecast. a few breaks in the cloud cover cover, but temperatures are going to be slow to rise in some locations, especially along the coast where we will 50s. it is away from the coast, back into the 60s, even near 70. so we will talk more about this onshore wind and also the risk of showers, when we will see heavier rain arrive. the heavier check of traffic with julie. how is the expressway going. >> good that you mentioned the expressway. good news the accident earlier at adams street has cleared; however, we are still seeing the residual delays because of the rollover accident. as we head over to the pike, things look good from framingham through thes weton tolls and what you will see as you head through -- wide open. 12 minutes from 16 to 128.

we did drive by the area this morning. the scene and to be back open. a lot of missing pieces. we don't know the condition of the bicyclist or if the vehicle involved was located. we have reached out to police and as we get answers and updates we will pass that information on to you. for now live in plymouth, catherine parrotta, fox25 morning news. also breaking this morning a new york city police officer has been killed in the line of duty. the officer was shot in the head during a chase and gunfight in east harlem. the police commissioner says 33-year-old randolph holder was chasing a man who had stolen a bike when he was shot. other officers shot the suspect in the legs and arrested him. officer holder was five-year veteran on the force and a third generation police officer who emigrated from africa. he is the fourth nypd officer killed in the line of duty in the last 11 months. and happening today, a man accused in a series of sexual assaults is due in court this
nantucket over a period of at least seven years. daniel miller joins us with the controversial way they identified the suspect. >>daniel: the man was a relegitimate threat to women on island. this morning he is behind bars and held on $1 million bail. 35-year-old david masterson was arrested at a construction site where he worked. he is due in court in nantucket in just a few hours. right now he is charged in connection with two sexual assaults. one allegedly happened in 2008 on bartlett road. the other took place last year in roberts lane. investigators tell the cape cod times they had five or six open cases that masterson may be connected to. victims in some of the cases said the man had a jamaican accent and carried a key chain with a card from an unnamed store in the island. using customer information, police asked 100 men on the island with jamaican heritage to submit to dna samples.
how they were able to identify the suspect. coming up in the next half hour, what police plan to do with the dna satchels and how another local case inspired the search. in the newsroom this morning, daniel miller, fox25 news. developing news this morning in westford where police are hoping for you in leads in a missing mom from maine. in is sara mead. mead and her 5-year-old son were reported missing yesterday morning. they were spotted around 9:30 in westford. the mother may have disappeared against her own free will but they did not provide any further detail. mead is driving a 1999 volume row with the maine license slate. she was spotted on powers road. call police immediately if you see her. this morning, police areing a teenager in new hampshire. the 18-year-old was shot at around 8:00 near gil stadium in manchester. hospital. no word on his condition this morning. police tell us they do not believe it was a random
shooting. a group of armed men accused of terrorize accused of terrorizing a worcester family remain on the loose this morning. police say seven men with guns forced their way into a home on circuit avenue east. once inside, the victims say two men in the house were pepper sprayed and tied up. a woman and two young girls were then locked in a bedroom where the suspect ransacked the house. they stole cash and other valuables. a symbol of hate under investigation. police are investigating a swastika that was drawn in the boy's bathroom. a custodian found the symbol late last week. since then they met with groups of 8th grade boys to discuss the seriousness of the incident. police do not believe a specific student was targeted. a brookline teacher fired for swearing in front of work. larry chen will return to the school system back in november. earlier this month we reported that the middle school students were rallying behind chen at a school committee meeting. those student insisted they

oxycondone from a cvs. police say it happened at the store on highland street and the suspect handed the pharmacist a note saying had a gun and demand the drugs. he left in a dark sedan and it is about six feet tall. a freetown -- and freetown police have a warrant out for this man suspected of stealing from a church during a funeral service. this is 23-year-old cassidy roy this is 23-year-old cassidy roy. police say he took the purse from a lobby during the service yesterday. there were allegedly two cell phones in the purse. police say roy will be charged with larceny. new this morning, the top prosecutor in massachusetts will not take action against daily fantasy sports sites. attorney general maura healy tells "the globe" she will not shut down boston-based draft kings or rival fan duel. several other states including nevada blocked the site from operating cash games. healy says there is no state law in massachusetts banning fantasy sports games. instead, her office will work to ensure that the games are
fair and that customers are protected. new this hour, biking to work is becoming more popular in boston. according to the "the globe" census data show the number of people that regularly commute on a bike has more than tripled over the past decade. more men ride to work than women. there is also an increase number number people walking or using public transportation to get to work. 20 years ago travis roy took the ice for boston university's hockey team. just 11 seconds into his first shift ever, he took a hit that left him paralyzed. now he is being honor for the work he has done through his foundation which helps people with spinal cord injuries. he spoke to hundreds of kids who weren't even alive when he had his accident and they say rather that he is an inspiration. >> even though if you don't, like, make one dream, there is always another dream that you can do. >> teaches me to live life. because at any second, something could happen.

who police are say on a crime spree. >>sara: robbing bank up and down the east coast for three weeks now. fox 25's michael henrich is live in quincy this morning where that couple is actually from. michael? >>reporter: good morning to you both. yeah, police dubbed them "the new bonnie and clyde." but if they are, certainly a modern-day couple because instead of seeking thrills, this couple according to police are seeking money for a heroin addiction, a dangerous drug addiction indeed. and police say they could be heading back to their home in massachusetts. they are talking about 37-year-old joseph carrier and his wife, jennifer. police say the couple is wanted after three bank robbery after three bank robberies 234 after three bank robberies in three different states. it all started at the beginning of september. joseph gave the teller the note and jennifer drove the getaway car. happened three times in ludlow in eastern mass at the end of
september. two weeks later at a bank in palm coast florida. and then four days after that another bank in aberdeen, maryland. they say they do have connections not only to quincy but western mass as well. >> these two are so desperate that once they run out of money, they become so sick, that they will do whatever means to get more cash to purchase more heroin which seems to be -- bank robbery is their method of doing that. >>reporter: the couple was last seen driving a stolen suv according to police. they describe it as a 2015 buick encore chocolate in color and a massachusetts dealer plate 265s. police say jennifer stole that car when she worked at that dealer here in massachusetts. it also be noted that they are looking for this couple as they hope that the police does, that they have seven dog in that suv

this morning, massachusetts liquor stores are pushing state closed on thanksgiving day. a bill before the statehouse will allow those stores to stay open. some owners argue the business would not be worth the loss of family time, thanksgiving, memorial day and christmas are the three holidays that liquor stores are currently banned from opening under state law. amazon hiring 100,000 people for the holiday season. the retailer is hiring across the country for jobs in its fulfillment and sorting facility. holiday hiring has increased 25% since last year. the company recently filled additional 25,000 regular full additional 25,000 regular full-time positions. the national retail federation expects holiday online spending to be $105 billion this year. holiday shoppers are expected to spend more this year too. the trick though will be getting them into the stores.
